Rorient; my trend

The two trends I am merging is Oriental Express and Rock. I decided to put these two together as there so different but I think they go very well together.

I took Oriental Express from New Look as they are currently doing this trend.

''Inspired by the late 1920’s obsession with the orient, watercolour pastel shades of blush pink, lavender and blue reign supreme for a delicate take on deco. The definition of day to night glamour, shimmering fabrics and sequin textures are accented by pale faux fur whilst oriental winter florals bring an undoubtedly feminine feel to these frosted hues.''

Then I decided to add Rock as it has always been one of my favorite trends.

mannequins

Most of the time when there is more than 3 mannequins in a shop window the shop make it so that they interact with each other like you would with friends or family. In this case the mannequins look like there representing independent women who look like there showing of what they are wearing with there strong and bold standing.

Here is another group of mannequins, in this scenario they are all together, it has been set out that they are in an actual scene with them socializing with each other. I feel like this is more appealing when walking past a window as it looks like there has been put in a lot of time and effort to create this e.g. how they position the mannequins rather than just standing them on boxes.

Tim Walker video

Here is a video by Tim Walker called Fashion Story; Lady Grey.

Backstage Video of the photo shooting appeared on Vogue Italia March 2010 issue.

His photographs are taking inspiration by different fairy tales. By watching this video I would say it is inspired by Swan Lake. The ouifits, hair and makeup are all very extravagant. Even by the picture you can see the big wig and the big dress,

The purpose of having this setting is that it is very unique as it has a dark twist on classic stories and very appealing as most people want to see how he has took his idea and made it happen.

2000s: WGSN styles, influences, catwalk collections etc.

WGSN
WGSN are a fashion house who spot all the latest trends and fashion for the next season. They are a very well known and respected fashion house that are inspirations to many designers and high street stores.

Here they have researched yellow as it is going to be big next season. They show you how the colour will be used in different clothes and items etc. and then all the different shades.

Here is an example of a catwalk that I looked at where it was inspired by Antique Collector.  Here is how they explained this particular trend '' As a new wave of nostalgia sweeps the summer season, print and pattern were fused together in dreamy artist combinations. Lightweight fabrics, vintage brocades and silk often led with raw edges and frayed ends were delicately rendered in muted colour to create a hand crafted look.

All of WGSN are different to each other as each post shows us different things e.g. one will have different colour pallets so we can see what colours will be in next season or one will show us the new fashion trend.

1990s: music and films

1990s - Another decade and more diversity coming through. Bands were still the main people rocking the charts but nevertheless you still had British soul and Indian-based music showing what they could do. Bands like Electronic rock bands like The Prodigy and Chemical Brothers began to make there debut giving them a high profile. Alternative Rock reached the mainstream, which came from the Manchester scene to produce dream pop, shoe gazing, post rock and indie pop. This then led to the commercial success of Brit pop bands like Oasis.

It was a new era and new music, a new decade to express your selfs even more than before. New faces and subcultures appearing in every direction.

Films:
  • Thousands of full-length films were produced during the 1990s.
  • Many films were specifically filmed or edited to be displayed both on theater screens as well as on the smaller TV screens, such as showing close-up scenes during dialog, rather than just wide-angle scenes in a room.
  • The home-video market became a major factor in total revenue for a film, often doubling the total income for a film.

1980s: Quotes by famous 80s fashion designers

Famous quotes by 80s fashion designers:

''Women thrive of novelty and are easy meat for the commerce of fashion. Men prefer old pipes and torn jackets.''      Anthony Burgess

In other words this quote is saying that it is very easy to persuade women to buy the latest fashions and that they are a easy target for when they come to buy things. It is then saying that men are not so easily brought and are just normally happy with what they already have.

''Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months'' Oscar Wilde

This quote is being sarcastic by saying that fashion has to change always as people get bored of the same old thing and people just get bored after a while and think that the fashion which once was the latest trend is now seen as ugly.

''Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.''    Coco Chanel

This quote is saying that fashion is just not clothes or what you see in the latest fashion magazine it is all around us constantly and most of us don't even pay no notice to it. Fashion is just not the way we dress, it is a way of life.

''Style is an expression of individualism mixed with charisma. Fashion is something that comes after style.''    John Fairchild

This quote is saying that style is just not what the latest trend is or what you see your favourite celebrity wear it is to show on the outside what your person style is.
